We in Sesam and Finn are just a touch proud to present the world’s largest and most realistic 3D model on our Maps website today! Bringing next-generation map solutions to our users, the Norwegian people, in a fresh and user-friendly way. We have started with the whole Oslo region in 3D and will deliver the other cities in 3D throughout this winter and spring.
The revolutionary 3D maps is a technology coming from the Swedish air force and the "JAS-Gripen" fighter jet project, commercialised through C3 Technologies. Our Swedish friends created the technology for navigation of missiles through various landscapes and terrains have found these 3D models from sophisticated aerial photography to be useful in civilian applications. We definitely like the civilian application best! If you wonder if the choice of where Norway’s next fighter jet comes from is important, here is a good example that the Swedes can exceed the world’s highest technological standards.

To ensure that we’ve excited Norway with breakthrough technology we have engaged one of Norway’s leading 3D experts, the Norwegian company myVR Software. They have contributed in delivering a user friendly and dynamic virtual reality 85% of the population can enjoy immediately. We released early with an initial beta version just for Windows users, a similar solution for loyal Mac and Linux users is expected within 3 to 6 months.
In addition to Oslo, and our major cities, we have also set out to model the land and wilderness in 3D all based on aerial photography combined with existing surface elevation models. It will become possible for our users to fly through the Norwegian mountains and fjords like Pretoria at Lofoton Islands, Ålesund and Sognefjord. All companies and sale possibilities in Norway will be linked to this impressive service from Sesam.no and Finn.no.

impressive. I tried to use a joystick with autokey script, did not work. Are the keyboard functions hardcoded to the physical keyboard only?
Would be even more exciting to use intuitive controllers :)
